Client collaboration and success stories from 2024

Looking back on 2024, we are proud of the diverse and impactful projects we delivered. Among the highlights was our collaboration with Stem Cell Donors Australia to design and launch a new website that enhances their ability to connect with donors and health professionals. Similarly, our partnership with The Developing Foundation on the Alo app—supporting families navigating brain injury recovery and parents of children aged 0–3 by promoting active involvement in child development, milestone tracking, and early intervention—demonstrates how our work has made a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

We also saw significant results from our partnership with Deakin University on the Resilience DBT app. A randomised trial involving over 570 participants revealed a 31% reduction in binge-eating episodes within six weeks, continued improvement at 12 weeks, and notable decreases in eating disorder symptoms. Participants reported better mindfulness and emotional regulation, underscoring the app’s effectiveness in mental health care despite declining engagement. These achievements reflect our commitment to creating purposeful solutions that drive positive change.

The Australian Defence Force’s Joint Transition Authority collaborated with Spark to transform their PDF resource into the ADF Member and Family Transition Guide app, providing Defence members and their families with seamless, accessible support as they navigate the transition to civilian life.

Key app and web design trends shaping 2025 and beyond

With the start of 2025, the world of app and web design is advancing unprecedentedly. The growing demand for intuitive and innovative digital experiences is reshaping how we approach design and development.

Looking ahead, artificial intelligence (AI) will play an even greater role in transforming the design process. By automating repetitive tasks, improving efficiency, and enabling hyper-personalised user experiences, AI will empower teams to deliver creative solutions faster and adapt to evolving user needs with greater precision.

As mobile usage continues to dominate, a mobile-first design approach remains crucial, prioritising touchscreen optimisation, simplified navigation, and enhanced speed and performance. Responsive and adaptable designs for apps and websites ensure seamless user experiences across all devices, staying in tune with the shift toward mobile-driven interactions. Achieving effective mobile-first designs requires the careful application of best practices in design, development, and testing.

Accessibility and inclusivity will take centre stage in the design process. Features such as WCAG compliance, voice control, and accessible colour schemes will ensure that digital experiences are available to everyone, broadening reach and improving usability for all users.

Trends like micro-interactions and animations will further refine user experiences. These subtle, intuitive cues enhance usability and engagement by guiding users naturally through digital interfaces. Minimalist and clean aesthetics will remain a cornerstone of effective design, creating clutter-free layouts that promote focus and encourage interaction.

As concerns about data privacy and security grow, robust protections will become indispensable. Incorporating secure features will help build user trust while ensuring compliance with evolving regulations.

Finally, emotional design and storytelling will continue to shape meaningful connections with audiences. Through evocative visuals and compelling narratives, brands can communicate their values effectively, fostering deeper engagement and long-lasting relationships.

Our goals, commitments, and innovations for the year ahead
