Penske – Detroit iOS and Android app

BACKGROUND
Detroit is a world leader in building and servicing truck engine platforms, owned by Penske Power Systems, the Detroit brand engenders extreme brand loyalty in the trucking community.  Detroit approached Spark Digital to build an app for their core market, the truck driver on the road in both Australia and New Zealand.

STRATEGY
One of the key objectives is to reduce the telephone calls to the Detroit service centre by drivers enquiring about a sequence of appearing alert dashboard lights.  By using the app to reference and interpret the sequence of flashes the drivers is easily able to establish the problem and take appropriate action..

DELIVERABLES
An iOS and Android app was planned, designed, built and tested by Spark Digital. The app included a fault code search, information about their Detroit engine and helpful information for regenerating the truck engine. The app also includes other valuable information including location services for drivers to search on nearby service centres and roadside stops

BMW Melbourne – Mobile & Tablet App

Background
BMW Melbourne is a well established dealership targeting high-end customers and prospects. As part of an iconic global brand known for customer service and producing quality products, it was identified than an Android and iOS app would compliment established marketing efforts.

Strategy
Spark Digital was approached to develop an app that would be a valuable resource for BMW Melbourne customers and prospects. Existing customers would be able to store their unique BMW details in the app, book BMW services, and make appointments for test drives.

Deliverables
An iOS and Android mobile and tablet app was planned, designed, built and tested by Spark Digital. In addition to being able to book services and appointments, an innovative parking feature allows BMW drivers to remember where they parked their car. Prospective customers can also search on eBrochures on all BMW models and easily access BMW Finance information for potential purchases.

Australian Open Tennis

Background

Prior to founding his own agency, our Director Nick Davies was the Web Designer and Digital Producer at Tennis Australia. In Nick’s role he designed and produced tennis.com.au, AustralianOpen.com, numerous other event websites including the Sydney and Brisbane tennis events as well as websites for stars such as Sam Stosur, Casey Dellacqua and Jelena Dokic.

Strategy
Spark Digital continues to work with Tennis Australia on digital strategy and project management for the Australian Open, one of the four grand slam tennis tournaments.
The Strategy for AustralianOpen.com is to bring the feeling of the tournament direct to virtual visitors with score feeds and heavy social integration.

Deliverables
In addition to the website, the world’s first grand slam iPad app was produced. Official iPhone and Android apps are also produced in conjunction with technology sponsor IBM. Our founder Nick Davies project manages the digital sponsorship activations of organisations including Emirates, Rolex, and TAC. In 2015, iBeacon technology was integrated into the event iPhone app.

Results
The Australian Open website receives over 15 million unique visitors over the 2-week tournament period. The iPad app was a first for grand slam tennis. Over 1 million people download the iPhone app worldwide.

Gallery Blinds – Website and Blind Builder Application

Background

Gallery Blinds is a new, online start-up business by Bay Media, which allows customers to choose an image from various collections, and turn it into a fashionable blind for their home or office.

Spark was engaged to develop the ecommerce website and blind builder application. 

Strategy

Spark worked closely with the Bay Media team from the project initiation through to delivery. 

Our process included a lengthly planning stage involving wireframes, design reviews and technical/functional specifications.

Deliverables

Spark developed a visually themed website and easy to use blind building app, powered Amazon servers and managed via a customised WordPress CMS. An number of custom photo streaming APIs were also created, to allow Gallery Blinds to integrate images from Getty Images, Bridgeman Images and BigStock Photo libraries. 

The site also allows for a user to upload their own image file to have it turned into a beautiful, personalised blind.

CURA Health Group – App & Reporting Tool

Background

CURA Health Group provides the most diverse and complete Pharmacy Services in Melbourne. The Aged Care Pharmacy Services Devision was looking to automate the collection of data to allow for real-time reporting for Centre Operators.

Strategy

An iPad app and web-based reporting tool was  planned, designed and developed by Spark Digital. The app would allow Pharmacists to electronically enter information on their rounds in over 100 Aged Care Centres around Victoria.

Results

The app replaced the pen and paper method streamlining what had been a manual process for the CURA Health Group. Data from the app was collated on a central server that could be accessed securely over the cloud. This data was then used to automatically generate reports for Aged Care Centres and Medicare.

Peter Rowland Catering – App

Background

Peter Rowland Catering is Australia’s premier caterer, and an Australian institution serving exceptional food and impeccable service for over 50 years. Peter Rowland were looking to highlight their offering of catering for customised events to a new audience.

Strategy

The ‘Ultimate Partner Planner app’ was devised by Spark Digital. The app would allow people to get ideas for their next party and tie into Peter Rowland’s all inclusive service. The app also helped promote products and services offered by key Peter Rowland partners.

Deliverables

The app allows people to get inspiration for their next party with ideas for theming, catering, drinks and entertainment ideas. Upon selecting a theme, individual food, drink and entertainment ideas are pre-populated and the user can then pick and choose to create their ultimate party.

Charlie Dumpling

Background

Charlie Dumpling is a modern-Asian restaurant serving some of the best dumplings in Melbourne. Opening to rave reviews in January 2014, Charlie Dumpling is one of the hottest new restaurants in Melbourne.

Strategy

Spark Digital worked with the Charlie Dumpling team on the planning and development for the responsive desktop, tablet and mobile site.

Deliverables

The site allows people to order take away direct from their computer, tablet or phone. Orders connect directly into the restaurants Point of Sale System (POS) for fast turn-around.

 

 

 

 

RaboDirect – Data Capture application

Background
RaboDirect are the principle partner of Super Rugby team, the Melbourne Rebels.

During game-day activations RaboDirect wanted to increase leads for their online savings accounts.

Strategy
At game-days, RaboDirect activation staff carrying iPads entered fans into a competition where the prize was winning one of 20 Rugby balls signed by star player James O’Connor. People would be sent an email directly after entering with a promotion for the RaboDirect online savings account.

Deliverables
A data capture interface application optimised for iPads was created by Spark Digital.

The application included a promotion screen, entry form, terms and conditions, and entry confirmation.

All entries were recorded in a back-end system and an auto-responder email was sent with the online savings account promotional message.

Results
The application was used for 9 home games in the 2013 Super Rugby season.

The activation resulted in over 356 unique entries, a 55.08% open rate of the promotional email, and a 8.94% click-through rate to learn more about RaboDirect and the online savings account.

Smiling Mind

Background
Smiling Mind is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing accessible training in Mindfulness Meditation. Spark was engaged to develop the program as a free online tool and iPhone app.

Strategy
Spark worked closely with the Smiling Mind team and design partner – Cornwell from the project initiation through to delivery. Our process included a lengthly planning stage involving wireframes, design reviews and technical/functional specifications.

Deliverables
Spark developed the website and app stretching the capabilities of WordPress and JavaScript to their limits. We created a unique audio listening player in JavaScript that tracks every meditation listen and developed an API that connects the WordPress back-end to the IOS app.

Results
The Smiling Mind app and website launched to the public in October 2012. Since launch the app has been downloaded over 400,000 times, and received average app store ratings of 4.5.
